When I first saw a few months ago that there would be a new Beatles album coming out, I was pretty excited. Not a greatest hits, mind you, but something more. Then, when I was in a branch of the French record store Fnac, I saw the album there — The Beatles Love. I used one of the listening stations in the store to hear how it was, and I loved it. But, I held off on paying the very high price (with the $1.30 a euro exchange rate), and got the CD on Amazon. It came a few days ago, and I started listening.
The album is not what I expected at all. It’s basically a bunch of Beatles songs, hits and more obscure tracks, that have been mixed together to form one incredible album. Almost all of the songs are mixes of multiple Beatles songs, for example Drive My Car mixed with The Word and Blackbird with Yesterday. There are also some less-mixed songs thrown in to break it up. Now, I’m in no way giving a full review here, just saying my first opinions about the album. So, even if you’re a long time Beatles fans and own a lot of their original albums, Love is not a greatest hits and is definitely a worthy addition to any Beatles collection
